We have enjoyed the library this year and today was our last visit.

Cathy and Madeline always read us a story first then we have the chance to explore new books to read or play a new game for ourselves. There are so many books !

Last week Caitlin won the School Library competition with her drawing of a butterfly. She chose a prize, well done Caitlin.

This week Room 6 have been learning about African animals and grasslands habitat.

There is so much to learn about these different animals and we realised how amazing they were when we found out interesting facts about them.

We observed and noticed how the animals looked and moved in their habitat.

"Their coats are short because it is so hot"

"Lions look like the grass"

We drew our favourite animal from the African Savannah and made a mask.

They look, fantastic everyone!!

Sketching the Redwood tree.

Term 4 is underway and we began our week by sketching our beautiful Redwood tree.  It symbolizes our school vision 'Stand Tall, Reach high,  Tu Tangata, Tu Maia'.

We will create artwork around this at the end of the week.  Please feel free to pop in and see our lovely artwork. We would love to show you.

Just a quick note: This term we are learning all about animals and plan to visit the zoo in Week 6.

Rock hunting on Putikitiki

 We are volcanologists!

Room 6 gathered rocks from the school grounds and then observed them in class.

Gathering the rocks was lots of fun, and we managed to collect so many different shapes, colours, textures and sizes.  We sorted our rocks in lots of ways back in the classroom.

We wondered if any of the rocks we collected were from volcanic eruptions a long time ago?
