Playing with Dough

Our reading group was reading the book
Playing with Dough
In the story the children made all sorts of things with the play dough. They made cakes, nests for birds, snails, worms, shapes, a snowman and a little mouse.
Here is a little snail with a slime trail.
We wanted to make some too!

Another snail with a very long slime trail.

Lots of fat worms. Can you count how many there is?

Worms and snails.

How to blow your nose.

"Everyone needs a tissue."

"Has everyone got a tissue?"

"Close your mouth."

"Close your mouth and blow out your nose."

"Did you see the tissue move? If you did that means you are blowing out your nose correctly."

"Hold the tissue over your nose and blow."

The public health nurses came into our class to teach us how to blow our noses correctly.
We held a tissue by our face , closed our mouth and blew air out our nose to make the tissue move.
To blow your nose, you should fold your tissue in half, put it over your nose, close your mouth and blow. After you have blown your nose you  have to wash your hands.

We learnt a little song to remind us about nose blowing. (To the tune of row, row, row your boat.)

Blow, blow, blow your nose
That's the way to go
Sniff sniff NO NO
We should always
BLOW!

Shake Out 9.26am

Hamilton East School was part of the New Zealand Shake Out Drill at 9.26am on Wednesday 26 September.

We watched the video clip so we knew what we had to do.

Before Shake Out we had learned that if there is an earthquake you,
DROP, COVER, HOLD.
If you are outside you do the same thing.

Even if you are safe under a desk you still cover your head as well as holding the desk leg.

A special place: Putikitiki

At our school there are many special places that we like to go. Because we are in Kowhai team we only get to go down to Putikitiki at special times with our teacher.

Peek-a-boo I see you!

Look at me! I can climb up the tyres.

Down, down the big, blue slide.

Down I go.

Can you climb up the climbing wall?

The tyre swing is huge.

We work together to make the tyre swing move backwards and forwards.

Here we go!

We climb up the ladders.

We have turns on the smaller yellow slide.

We walk across the wobbly bridge. Hold on tight!

Time to go down the big slide.

Wow, that was fast.

Climbing back up to go down the slide again.

We have lots of fun climbing with our friends.
We wait for our friends to walk across the bridge.
We can't wait until the next time we can go down to Putikitiki.
