Camping.

This week I brought my pack into the classroom.  Everyone had a try of putting it on their back and walking around.  It was heavy.  we took out all the equipment and talked about the things we would use on a tramp.  I shared my about journey around Lake Waikerimaoana.

On Friday we went down to Putikitiki and put up the little tent.  We cooked porridge on the gas cooker and ate it.  It felt like a little camp out at school!

Science.   Sweet and Sour.

Last term we explored acids and bases using citric acid, baking soda and icing sugar - of course making some sherbert along the way.
We used special acidity paper to indicate if a liquid was a base or an acid.

Here are some photos of our experiments.

Some of the expressions tell the story - Sweet and Sour.

Writing.

Everyone in room 4 is working hard to learn their phonics and use them in their writing.
We are learning that words are made up of parts and sounds.
Each day we learn a new sound and try to use it in our writing (or reading).
