Les Mills School of Fitness

Each Monday, Laurelle from Les Mills School of Fitness, comes to Hamilton East School to teach us exercises to help keep us fit and healthy. 

We are lucky as we get to do fitness with Room 3 as well. 

We get to move to the music and sometimes we pretend we are animals.

Dress Up Day

We were so excited to get dressed up for VSA Pacific dress up day.
Whaea Kat and Mrs McLean thought that we all looked gorgeous.

Gymnastics

We have been having lots of fun learning how to use the equipment used for gymnastics.

We have been learning how to walk along the beam, jump on the mini tramp and land with two feet and do pencil rolls on the mat. 

People are Different

This is our Poem of the Week:

People are Different

People are different everywhere!

Different colours,

different hair.

Different homes

and jobs to do.

But they feel things,

the same as you!

Young and Old

We have been talking about age. 

Using Kidspiration, we found pictures of a baby, a child about the same age as us, someone the same age as our parents and an older person. Then we put them in order from youngest to oldest.

Grumpy Bear

This story is about a bear who wants to have a sleep but the mice and the birds are keeping him awake so he scares them. But the bees don't scare so easily. 
I wonder why?

Cartooning with Stu Duval

We were lucky enough to have Stu Duval to visit our school. 

He is an amazing storyteller, author and cartoonist. 

Stu told us the story of the little green book monster, then the following day he showed us how to draw cartoons.

All of Kowhai team had an amazing time learning how to draw different cartoons using shapes, letters and numbers as a starting point.

We are totally focussed.
